Tiger Mum Cafe

For my typography project, I explored the environment of Tiger Mum’s Canteen, a café that blends traditional Vietnamese cuisine with a calm yet lively atmosphere. Inspired by its balance of serenity and subtle background noise, I created a poster series that visually connects typography with the space’s character.

Using Futura, a controlled yet dynamic sans-serif, I designed three posters highlighting different typographic concepts. The first emphasises stems through contrasting colors, featuring café-related words like Coffee and Bánh mì. The second explores counters, depicting abstract food elements being picked up by chopsticks. The third focuses on widows and orphans, shaping a paragraph to resemble packaged noodles, reflecting another café menu item. Through this approach, I aimed to create a cohesive, structured design that ties typography to the cultural and sensory experience of the space.
